BCPAI

The Bucks County Performing Arts Institute is a non-profit organization for the advancement of the performing arts for youth in the Bucks County region.
Since its founding in 2001, BCPAI has awarded music scholarships and subsidized VOICES of Bucks County which is an intergenerational troupe of singers that has had Mother/Daughter, Father/Daughter, Father/Son and even Grandmother and Granddaughter participants. Guest Artists have included famed American Composer/conductor, Moses Hogan and regional concert singers appearing with VOICES in collaboration with other choral and orchestral groups.
This has provided them with opportunities to sing great masterworks such as Handel’s Messiah and Mozart Requiem plus multi-cultural, pop music and original music dramas such as “Mrs. Fezziwig’s Feast “, “A Norman Rockwell Holiday” and “ Downtown Abbey” ( a musical spoof of Downton Abbey.)
Enrichment music classes for home schoolers are available by request.
At various times we have supplied both the curriculum and music teachers for YWCA pre-schools and summer camps run by the YWCA and Ivins Outreach Center.
Each year BCPAI has provided local youths with free instruments to give them the opportunity to study and participate in music groups at school and regionally. These include string instruments, band instruments and free pianos.

BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY:

The scope and range of programs which the BCPAI are able to initiate and implement is unlimited. The focus of BCPA currently, is on the scholarships, instrument donation program and VOICES of Bucks County. But through grants and donations from private and public sources, programs will be added that reach out to more people in the community - bringing the benefits of early childhood music programs to single mothers and children ‘at risk’, drama and drama therapy programs for area youths, and partnership programs with other non-profit organizations to ‘uplift’ the lives of more people through performing arts initiatives.

ACTIVITIES OF BCPAI INCLUDE:

· Providing merit scholarships for exceptional students
· Providing free instruments for low-income children
· Providing financial assistance for lessons in music or drama for low-income children
· Providing programs for in music, dance or drama that utilize the arts to improve the academic skills,
social skills and the emotional health of “children at risk”
· Conduct “Voices of Bucks County” , an intergenerational troupe of singers/performers
· All these enrich the quality of life in the region.

HOW YOU CAN BENEFIT:

You (or your child) may be in need of scholarship assistance to fully develop their budding talent. As we grow, we’ll be better able to provide that assistance. You may know of a situation where a performing arts program would develop the teamwork, poise and self-esteem needed to break the cycle of ‘failure- behavior ’ for area youths.
